Town of Thurmond To Host Beginner Triathlon
The Town of Thurmond is making plans to hold the fourth Thurmond Triathlon, a beginner triathlon, on Sunday, August 3, 2014. The beginner triathlon will take place in Thurmond and is open to anyone 7 years of age and older. Individuals or teams of three will bike from the Historic Thurmond Depot 2 miles to Stonecliff where they will then paddle 1.5 miles to the Dun Glen Day Use area. From there contestants will run a two mile loop around the Historic Town of Thurmond.
According to Missy Dragan, “ Captain Thurmond’s Challenge has always been a great event for the area and the Town of Thurmond was looking for a way to extend the weekend. We feel there are a lot of individuals, and maybe families, that would like to participate in a triathlon but need something that is more beginner friendly.”
Registration will be held beginning at 9:30 am in Thurmond at the Dun Glen Day use area on Sunday, August 3. Pre-registration by Thursday, July 31 is a must if participants are planning on using event duckies provided by ACE Adventure Resort.
